Joe Xiongwei Zhou

Joe has 20+ years of multi-cultural and international work experience in
China, Japan, and the U.S. He is also a professional advisor at Martin Trust
Center for MIT Entrepreneurship.
Trained as an engineer, Joe is fully vested in technology development.
Throughout his career in the technology sector, he advanced his
responsibilities and roles from a software engineer to technical lead,
manager, vice general manager, managing director, and partner. After
receiving his MBA degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),
Joe founded EL Capital, a private equity firm in Boston to make investments
in China’s technology sector. EL Capital invested in 29 companies in China
and had many successful and profitable exits. Following the success of EL
Capital, in 2014, Joe co-founded Boston Angel Club (BAC), expanding
investments beyond the tech sector to take advantage of the diverse high
tech and life sciences industries in Boston and China. BAC invested in 18
companies, which are mostly high growth companies in the US with business
across international borders.
Joe has a Sloan Fellow MBA degree from Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT), a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa
State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Precision Engineering from Tianjin
University in China. Joe and his family reside in Boston.
