AURORA DEDICATED BREAST MRI NOW OFFERED AT BREAST MRI NORTH IN INDIANAPOLIS

New MRI Facility Provides Patients Premier Breast Imaging Technology

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 20, 2008) – Aurora Imaging Technology Inc. today announced that the Aurora® 1.5Tesla Dedicated Breast MRI System is immediately available to patients at the newly opened Breast MRI North in the Breast Diagnostic Center of Community Hospital North. The Aurora System will be accessible to patients in Indianapolis and its surrounding areas at Breast MRI North, a joint venture with Community Hospital North and Irvington Radiologists.

Breast cancer accounts for more than two-thirds of all cancer diagnoses in women in Indiana and is the second leading cause of female cancer deaths in the state. On a positive note, according to the Indiana Cancer Facts and Figures, Indiana’s breast cancer mortality rates have actually decreased 17 percent since the late 1990s, an indication of the continued progress made possible by early cancer detection through breast cancer screening and physical examination.

“The statistics for breast cancer in Indiana are promising, however we know more can be done to tackle this disease,” said Olivia Ho Cheng, president and chief executive officer, Aurora Imaging Technology Inc. “The Aurora System’s advanced MRI technology is well-suited to help fight breast cancer through early detection, diagnosis and treatment monitoring. We are proud to partner with Breast MRI North, one of the leading breast care facilities and now well-equipped to further improve Indiana’s breast cancer statistics.”

Since opening its facility on the Community Hospital North campus in 1992, the Breast Diagnostic Center has been dedicated to offering cutting-edge medical technology to its patients to ensure the highest level of patient care. To complete the Center’s vision in providing patients a comprehensive breast health center, Breast MRI North was built and the Aurora System was chosen to provide the best possible MRI for exclusive use in combating breast disease. The Aurora System is the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared dedicated breast MRI system specifically designed for 3-D Bilateral Breast Imaging.

“The Aurora Breast MRI system is an important addition to our comprehensive breast diagnostic center at Community Hospital,” said Jean Kraft, M.D., director, Breast Imaging, Irvington Radiologists. “The images produced by the Aurora System are exceptional. They have accurately identified occult cancers that couldn’t be felt on physical exam or be seen on other imaging modalities. This makes a significant impact on our practice by helping us define the extent of breast disease in our patients. This allows a more accurate diagnosis, so the most appropriate and effective treatment can be planned.”

The installation of the Aurora System at Breast MRI North marks the second breast health center in Indianapolis to have the only FDA-cleared dedicated breast MRI available.
